Pictures in the Park

We went with B/L/K (the Nymans) to the duck park by our house and took family pictures for them and Chayla's 5 month pix. It was really fun and so pretty with the leaves changing colors. There were so many cute ones I couldn't narrow it down very well. So here's a bunch!

Milestones for Chayla's 5 month:

She figured out how to drink out of a bottle again :) She will actually drink from it instead of just chewing on the nipple

She will also take a pacifier for a little while

She is sitting up much better and can sit without help for almost a minute

She can hold her own bottle but not tip it back

She found her voice! and is very loud sometimes

She likes the sound she makes when you mover your finger back and forth across her lips

She had rice cereal for the first time.

She laughs a lot and doesn't cry as much when new people hold her)

She had a huge blowout on a neighbor at church :(

Learned to play Peek a boo

Can pass things from hand to hand

composed her first song on the keyboard

Homemade Chicken Pot Pie

I made chicken pot pies from scratch. I was so excited to find small tart pans at BBBY to make individual pies. I even made the crust and it all turned out so yummy. The fun part with the crust was using frozen butter and grating it so it could be cut in the flour. These pies were the perfect size and super good served over rice.

Playtime mishap

Poor Chayla got her foot thru one of the rings that hooks the toys to the floor mat. Since she wasn't hurt I figured I could take a picture. I'm still not sure how she did it. We jokingly call her Chaydini (like Houdini) because she can wiggle out of blankets, socks, everything. This time she got herself in a tight spot.

Cullinary adventures

Lee came over on the 15thand we tried some new recipes. We made Risotto and meatloaf. It was amazing! I'd never had risotto before and wasn't sure what to expect but it was a fluffy rice with sweet potato and crumbled bacon and lots of flavor. The meatloaf was also delicious and we made a double batch so we could freeze it for another time. The little girls had fun playing together and it was funny how much Kaidrei liked playing with the floor mat.

oct 13 Relief Society party

There was a "getting to know you RS activity at the club house so i went and left Jake and the princess home to party. It was fun. We played a couple getting to know you games - in one of them i was Lois Lane - and had many different kinds of popcorn.

Oct 11th Weekend cont.

On Monday, Jake took a vacation day and stayed home to play with us girls. It was way fun. We slept in, had a nice lazy morning, and then went to lunch and then costco. We had lunch at the Olive Garden and Chayla was an angel. In fact I think its her favorite restaurant - judging by the way she was licking her fingers when we put breadsticks in front of her :)

October 10th Weekend

We had a fun weekend spending Sunday with family. We went up to Gma Jen and Gpa Kelly's house for Halloween dinner and games. After dinner we played Bocce ball which was a lot of fun even though our team lost horribly. Chayla got to take victory pictures with the winning team b/c she is so cute.

Milestones

Hanging out with Nicole and Paige - my babysitters!

Chayla has been sleeping better - even slept thru the night a couple of times, but not consistently. One really exciting event happened last Friday Oct 1. She actually sucked on the bottle while at the babysitters house. She drank 4 oz. in 10 minutes. This inspired me to try the pacifier with her again and she took it and was able to hold on to it.

My math professor use to say that there's a sucker born every minute :) I'm so glad she's finally figured it out again.

October Conference

Uncle Randon and me

Talking to Gma Stead and Uncle Randon

Sleeping during conference.

Wow! What a great weekend! Unfortunately I didn't take pictures of it all :( Conference was amazing. Especially the part where we got to watch it in our pajamas. I love feeling the spirit when I watch conference and I always have a renewed sense of purpose and make new goals and start fresh.

On Saturday after conference we went north. Jake went to Sandy where he got to watch the priesthood session with his dad and bro Jesse and then hang out with his family. I took Chayla with me up to SLC and we got to visit with my mom, 3 bros, and the Mackey family - good friends from California. It was so much fun. We get to see them about once every 3 years.

Life is good, the Church is true and I love my family!
